La Chandeleur - Feb 1st

Our first event in 2025.

Please note it is reserved for regular conversation attendees, students and members as it is held in a private home.

We are once again marking the passing of the Christmas Season in a traditional French fashion by gathering for a celebration of La Chandeleur. This is in lieu or our regular Saturday French conversation. Invitations will be sent a few days before.

French Film Festival 16-18 May

Mark the date! Our Film Festival has been a fixture for well over 10 years. Our committee is currently busy organising the Festival so watch for updates!

You can expect an offering of 5 French movies (subtitled of course!) during the course of a weekend.

Bastille Day - July 13

Bastille Day is dear to our hearts and will be celebrated on Sunday 13 July this year. More information will be provided as we near the date, but rest assured that it will involve cheese, wine and good cheer!

French Cooking Class - Early August

Our third edition of the French Cooking Class will be held at Wilby’s Training Restaurant in Rockhampton and led by Chef Adrian Newby, Wilby’s head chef. The format will be similar to last year’s: a morning cooking storm followed by a Champagne lunch! Tempted? Make sure you respond promptly when reservations open as this event sells out quickly! Taste of the World – August 23

The Rockhampton Taste of the World Cultural Festival will be held Saturday August 23 on Quay Street, Rockhampton CBD from 1pm to 8pm. We will again be making delicious Crêpes, freshly cooked just for you!

Le Bon Weekend at Byfield Hideaway Resort – October 17-18

Our much-enjoyed weekend of French adventure in a tropical rainforest paradise! In 2025, it will again be held at Fern’s Hideaway Resort in Byfield, 30mn out of Yeppoon. Last year, around 20 students and friends of the Alliance attended this wonderful weekend of French fun and activities. Reservations will open a few weeks before the event.
